How to Rise Above Adversity and LIVE YOUR WORTH by Breaking the Cycle of Victimization

For years I found myself stuck in what I call the Cycle of Victimization, with no way out.

I repeated the abusive relationship I had with my narcissistic mother in several relationships with men, one which nearly killed me.

I wrote this book to chronicle my journey back to the woman I was meant to be – strong, smart, and full of life, a woman who knows how to live her worth.

Flawed No More
There is so much more to life in your 50's than a midlife crisis or tending to an empty nest.

Women in Their 50’s is a blog that aims to be an inspiration for women in this age bracket, who suddenly find themselves in situations that are completely new to them. Some may be going through a divorce, while others may live in a house without kids for the first time in 20 years, or some may be going through a career change.

These are two recent photos of myself. It takes me 7 minutes to apply my makeup

Women in Their 50's is a blog that aims to be an inspiration for women in their 50's, which is the decade I am currently living.

Hi and welcome to Women in Their 50s, a personal blog about midlife, and everything that goes with it. I am Maria Vazquez Castro, a college professor, single mother of one, breast cancer survivor, and born and raised in Northern Spain. Most importantly, I am 54 years young! I have been teaching for most of my adult life and it is my calling. But my passion is sharing my experiences, as well as helping other people live the best life that they can live.

I am a huge fan of fashion, from clothes to shoes, accessories, you name it! I love dressing up and I love sharing things in the style department. I love to experiment with different styles, and I am very interested in beauty and cosmetics. I am also a constant researcher on human psychology, which fascinates me. I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason.

Whatever it is you're going through right now, we will go through it together.

The best version of ourselves. We can thrive in health and happiness. I will help you find your authentic self.

Aging Gracefully

Aging gracefully isn't about trying to look like a 20-something — it's about living your best life and having the physical and mental health to enjoy it. Menopause is not the end of anything. Menopause is the beginning of the new you. It's up to you to make it happen.

Fashion / Style

In the fashion world, “style” is usually shorthand for “personal style,” or the way an individual expresses themselves through aesthetic choices

Sense of Purpose

Your Sense of Purpose is shaped by things you believe in and value – your own personal code of behavior.
